The particulars of the organisation, functions and duties

Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management Kerala IIITM-K is an autonomous premier educational institution established by Government of Kerala in the year 2000. IIITM-K is a multidisciplinary premier postgraduate institute conforming to the needs of building capacity at advanced levels of Computer Science and IT with great emphasis in Science and Technology.

Vision

To be a premier Institution of Excellence in Science, Technology and Management related to Information that develops professionals and leaders of high caliber imbued with values of entrepreneurship, ethics and social responsibility.

Mission

To be an institution of excellence in education, research, development, and   training   in   basic   and   applied   Information   Technology   and Management and to be a leader in educational networking and services provider for higher education and professions.

Objectives

  • To conduct various educational and training programmers in information Technology and management in full time as well as in part time, without the objective of making profit;

  • To emerge as a globally recognized, specialized institution for higher learning in Information Technology (IT), Management and related, fields of study and strive to establish Kerala as an international Centre of Excellence, without the objective of making profit;

  • To establish, administer and manage institutions, training/study centers, documentation centers, infrastructure for Research and Development and any other facility/facilities required for a Centre for advanced learning in Information Technology, Management, Entrepreneurship Development and allied fields, at one or more places/ locations, Without the objective of making profit;

  • To conduct educational, research and training programs in the field of Information Technology, Management, Entrepreneurship Development and allied fields and award degrees, fellowships, diplomas and certificates to the participants of such programs, without the objective of making profit;

  • To become the primary institution to set the standards of information Technology education and training in Kerala, without the objective of making profit;

  • To offer consultancy, guidance and assistance to the Governments (State or Central), to State and Central Public Sector Undertakings and other organizations in their drive for computerization, to train personnel involved in such activities and to help the Governments formulate various policies. schemes and projects for the promotion of wide spread application of Information Technology in all walks of life, without the objective of making profit;

  • To act as an effective interface between industry and academic and scientific institution with a view to foster innovative technologies, develop intellectual property, aid in patent registration and assist in their commercialization, without the objective of making profit.

(ii)

The powers and duties of its officers and employees;

Director is the Head of the Institute. It disposes its business allotted to it in accordance with the authority, responsibility and obligations bestowed on by the Board of Directors time to time.  Registrar heads the day to day administration.

(iii)

The procedure followed in the decision making process, including channels of supervision and accountability;

After necessary approval from Director/Board of Directors, decision will be implemented and decision will be circulated.

(iv)

Norms set by it for the discharge of its functions;

Efforts are made to deal with the cases as expeditiously as possible in accordance with the rules, regulations and other instructions issued from time to time.

(v)

Rules, regulations, instructions, manuals and records, held by it or under its control or used by its employees for discharging its functions;

The Institute follows Rules and Regulations, circulars, statues issued by the Government of Kerala from time to time.

(vi)

Statement of Categories of Documents that are held by it or under its Control;

The documents held by IIITM-K includes relevant files on subject dealt with in the office and service documents of its officials.

(vii)

Particulars of any arrangement that exists for consultation with, or representation by, the members of the public in relation to the formulation of its policy or implementation thereof

IIITM-K follows the Orders of the Government of Kerala. With the approval Board of Directors decision are implemented.

(viii)

List of Boards, Councils, Committees and other bodies consisting of two or more persons constituted as its part or for the purpose of its advice, and as to whether meetings of those boards, councils, committees and other bodies are open to the public, or the minutes of such meetings are accessible for public;

IIITM-K is headed by its Board of Directors. The Committees constituted in the Institute are :-

Meetings of the above Committees conducts regularly and minutes are accessible for public.

IIITM-K follows Central Govt. pay structure for its employees.

Currently the Institute has Professor – 6 Nos, Associate Professor – 1 Nos. Asst. Professor – 8 Nos, Technical Staff – 2 Nos., Admin Staff – 4 Nos, Library – 1 No.

The budget allocated to each of its agency, indicating the particulars of all plans, proposed expenditures and reports on disbursements made;

There is no subsidy programme implemented in IIITM-K

There is no such scheme being implemented by IIITM-K

Institute has a website, www.iiitmk.ac.in. All the information about the Institute including the Annual Report, Library activities, Training/Teaching Policy and programme, Important activities, FAQ etc. are available in Electronic form on the Institute’s website.

The particulars of facilities available to citizens for obtaining information, including the working hours of a library or reading room, if maintained for public use

The library is not meant for public use but is restricted to teachers, staff, students and scholars of this Institute and from other academic institutions, Universities and organizations.
