M.Phil in Ecological Informatics
Eligibility:M.Sc. in Natural (Botany, Zoology, Environmental Science, Plant Sciences, etc. or Physical (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) Sciences with a score of 60 % marks or above or CGPA of 6.5 or above in 10 points scale in the qualifying examination SC/ST candidates are eligible for admission, if they have minimum pass marks in the qualifying examination..However certain relaxation is provided for SC/ST candidates. Students those who are in final semester/year can also apply.
Duration – One year
Eligibility: Qualifying examination/degree for the admission for the M Phil-CS degree course is M.Sc/MCA/M.Tech in Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Electronics/ Computational Sciences/Geo-informatics or equivalent having minimum of three papers in CS/IT in the qualifying examination with at least 60% aggregate marks, or CGPA of above 6.5 in 10 points, or equivalent on the above mentioned subjects..

Eligibility: Bachelor’s Degree in any branch of Engineering or Technology / Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science,Computer Applications, or Information Technology / Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Statistics with Mathematics as a subject of study, with a minimum score of 60% or CGPA of 6.5 in 10 point scale in the qualifying examination. Candidates who are studying in the final year degree course and have yet to pass the final year degree examination can also apply.

M.Sc. in Computer Science with Specialisation in Data Analytics
Eligibility: The Master’s programme in Computational Science is open to students having Bachelor’s Degree in Science / Engineering / Technology with Mathematics as a subject of study, with a score of 60 % marks or above or CGPA of 6.5 or above in 10 points scale in the qualifying examination SC/ST candidates are eligible for admission, if they have minimum pass marks in the qualifying examination. Students who are in final semester / year and appearing for the exams shortly can also apply.

Post Graduate Diploma in e-Governance
Eligibility :Entry-level requirement for the program is a Bachelors degree in any discipline with working knowledge of computer systems. Diploma / Certification in computer application will be an added advantage. Preference will be given to B.Tech / MBA / MCA degree holders. The total intake of the programme is 45 of which 20 are from open quota, 15 are reserved for Kerala Government Officials and 10 for sponsored candidates. Under sponsored category, Central & other State Govt., PSUs and Private Organizations could sponsor their employees through proper channel. SC, ST applicants are eligible for reservation as per Government rules

Is MSc equivalent to M.Tech.
MSc courses at IIITMK are equivalent to the university level MSc degrees. At IIITMK the MSc programmes are research intensive and offer high quality Education at par with that of IITs/ international universities. The academic rigor of the MSc programme at IIITMK can be expected to be more than that of an MTech programme. Normally M.Sc Programmes are treated at par by IT Companies and considered as equivalent to that of other course based master level programmes.Those students who would like to take up a teaching career after the MSc programme would require to clear NET/GATE and pursue Doctoral studies successful completion of which will earn a PhD Degree. The IIITMK is a approved research centre of CUSAT so aspiring students can after their Post graduation continue for doctoral studies subject to fulfilling eligibility criteria.

What is the selection process for admission?
I have a valid GATE score; do I need to appear for the Admission Test?
Institute will decide the cut off for GATE score based on the GATE scores of the applicants. Applicants who have been notified as having valid Gate Score as prescribed by the institute will be exempted from appearing for the entrance test. However, they have to appear for the interview.
I am NET qualified; do I need to appear for the Admission Test for M.Phil (EI)?
The candidates who have qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC/CSIR are exempted from the written test. However, all candidates are required to attend the interviews that will be held at Thiruvananthapuram.
I want to apply for your course. But have less than 60%. If, I apply, will you reject my application?
To get admission in all the Master of Science programs, one needs to have a consistently good academic record with minimum score of 60 percentage marks or CGPA of above 6.5 in 10 points scale, in the final qualifying examination. Candidates belonging to SC/ST communities are eligible for applying if they have minimum pass marks in the qualifying examination. SEBC candidates of Kerala State who are certified as belonging to non-creamy layer are eligible for 5% relaxation in the minimum required marks for qualifying examination, provided that the candidates have passed the examination.
Is this course recognized and who will award the Degree?
All M.Sc and M.Phil courses are recognized and degree will be awarded by Cochin University of Science & Technology (CUSAT)
What is the Tuition Fee structure of the Courses?
The Tuition fee for Masters programme is Rs 1,00,000/- per year. The fee is payable in four equal installments of Rs.50,000/-.
The course fee for the M.Phil programme is Rs.1,00,000/-. The fee is payable in two equal installments of Rs.50,000/-.
The course fee for PGDeG programme is Rs.75,000 /-. For open candidates this has to be paid in two equal installments of Rs. 37500/-. There is also a refundable caution deposit of Rs 5000/-.
Do I have to pay other fees other than tuition fees?
The Tuition fees covers only educational expenses confined to classroom learning and the use of academic support facilities of institute. Apart from Tuition fees students need to pay for University affiliation fees and Semester examination fees amounting to approximately Rs 15000/- for the two years in the case of M.Sc Programs and Rs.7500/- approximately for M.Phil Programs.
For PGDEG the examination fees is approximately Rs 500/- per semester .
Does IIITM-K have its own campus?
Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management – Kerala functions from its own 3500 Sq. Mtr building in Technopark Campus, Trivandrum. As an institute, it has excellent IT supported academic and research infrastructure and labs. Further the pooled Technopark facilities like the convention centre, uninterrupted electricity and food courts are all available to our institute staff and students. As of now, we have all the amenities required to support the current academic programmes of the institute. The first phase of the high tech campus, which includes the hostel facilities, is completed in Technocity Campus of Thiruvananthapuram, Classes for the 2020 intake will be at this new campus.

The institute is well known as one of India’s leaders in the development of applications of IT in Education, Agriculture, Computational Chemistry.We are now pioneers in areas like Scientific Computing and IT enabled Geoinformatics and Spatial Logistics management. The institute recently obtained the approval to host INRIA’s ‘Scilab’ site and coordinate India’s growth in Scientific Computing. It is working closely with the Kerala University to launch the postgraduate education and research programs in Computational Science. Do you provide hostel facility? Is the hostel in "residential flats"? Where is it situated? Are the rooms shared among students? What kind of food is served in hostel?
We provide hostel facility. They are large private hostel buildings in the vicinity of Technopark campus and reasonably well equipped. The hostel rooms are shared – 2 persons per room to reduce cost. Students are also free to make own arrangements. Food is generally of the local type. The Institute arranges for transport at notified hours. Students who will be staying with their family will have to make own arrangements. The Hostel fees is approximately Rs 4000/- to Rs 5000/- per month.
How good are the computing infrastructure and other services in your institute?
IIITM-K has established its own full-fledged advanced IT Infrastructure including e-learning environment, digital library services, terminally mobile information access environment, grid-based information and computing environment for research, groupware and collaboration tools that support knowledge management, e-publishing, multimedia lectures recording and streamed multimedia services, Internet services, etc. IIITM-K has built on its own and regularly using advanced e-learning environment supported by digital library, content management systems and portals accessible on the web round-the-clock… The Institute enjoys the best Web-enabled learning environment in the country. This environment is supported around advanced Web-Technology education Server that has been developed in IIITM-K under the Entrepreneurship Development and Business Incubation programme of the Institute. The learning environment and the curricula have been enriched by constant flow of eminent faculty and experts from the IIT`s, IIM and leading IT industries. Can a student without Engineering / Technology / Science background during under graduation apply for the MSc programme?
No, students who have pursued courses than engineering /technology/science during under graduation are not eligible for the MSc Programme.
I am not a student of computer science for my under graduation. Am I eligible to apply for the MSc Computer Science?
Non Computer Science students can also apply for the MSc Computer Science course. Please carefully check the eligibility conditions for each of the specialisations. We are expecting students to brush up on +2 and graduate level mathematics before joining the course. Students may also do some preparatory work in programming languages like Python or Java.
Test Center Details
Due to issues raised by corona virus, proctored online test is being arranged by which candidates can take the test from their homes. By this, the candidates need not travel to test centres to take the test.
I am awaiting my Degree/PG results. Can I apply for the postgraduate programs of IIITM-K?
In the case of MSc/M Phil programmes, candidates who await their final semester results can also apply. The students who are unable to submit the final mark list in original and provisional degree certificate at the time of admission need to give an undertaking that they will submit the documents by September 30, 2020. The copy of the undertaking is available here. Such candidates need to submit the original mark list and provisional degree certificate as proof of meeting the eligibility criteria by September 30 2020 at the Academic Office of IIITM-K. For eligibility criteria, please check the admission eligibility conditions given for the specific courses. The submitted documents will be further verified by CUSAT. A student can continue the course only if the documents are found in order and the student is found to be meeting the eligibility conditions after the verification of the documents by IIITM-K and CUSAT.

Using the link ‘Forgot Your Password’ in the online application, you can reset your password. A link will be send to your e-mail id for resetting the password.
How can I pay the Application Fee?
The application fee can be paid online using Credit card, Debit card or through Net-banking facilities.
Should I send the confirmation page to Institute?
No. It is not required to send any documents to IIITM-K.
How shall I get the Admit Card for the Entrance Examination ITCAT/ITRAT 2020?
The Admit Card should be downloaded from the website after completing the online application process. The admit cards will be made available at the online admission portal.
Will the Admit Cards be sent to me by post?
No. Admit cards will not be sent by post from IIITM-K to the candidate. The Admit cards should be downloaded by the candidate by logging into the online admission portal.
