Target
- The certificate course is targeted at software engineers with less than 3 years experience
Tentative Syllabus
The course will provide fundamental concepts of project management with focus on software projects
Module(s)
Module-1: Introduction to Project Management: Project Management Fundamentals, Project Management Standards,Key objectives of effective management, The role of a project manager
Module 2: Managing software projects: Life cycle models- Waterfall processes, Iterative processes, Spiral, prototyping, RUP. Agile methodologies- XP, Scrum
Module 4: Requirements Management: Issues in requirements management, developing a requirements specification, various techniques
Module 5: Project Planning:Choosing a life cycle model, Business Planning: Determining objectives, Proposal preparation, legal issues. Technical Planning: Life Cycle models, WBS, Gantt Charts, PERT and CPM, resource scheduling
Module 6: Measuring and tracking projects: Metrics, project monitoring and tracking, Earned Value Management, change control
Module 7: Managing the team: Team organizations, recruitment and staffing, training
Module 6: Project completion and closing, Planning the closure, Closing activities of the project, Administrative closure
