Wireless Connection @IIITM-K

Presently WAP(WirelessAccessPoints) is working on security based mac-id authentication.This feature is enabled so that others outside IIITM-K should not be able to access the wireless network.Kindly get back to Sreejith J.S. (ETS Room ext. 122) if you face any problem regarding the wireless.

Note: Before Set up the Wireless Connection please make sure that your Laptop wireless mac-id was registered with the Institute(Contact System Administrator).


Setting up wireless connection for Linux

  1. Open a terminal
  2. Type iwconfig eth1 essid "ISWLAN"(You can select AP or ISWLAN).
  3. Type dhclient eth1(For getting IP from dhcp server)


Note:-    eth1  is the name of the wireless device on your machine.For finding it type                             
                “cat  /proc/net/wireless” 
For eg:     Inter-| sta- |   Quality        |   - - - - - - -  -             
            face  | tus  | link level noise | - - - - - - - -
            eth1: 0004

Setting up wireless connection for Windows

1.Select "My Network Places"
2.Click Right Mouse button and Select Properties
3.Click on Wireless Network connection and View the Available wireless Access Points.
4.Select "AP" or "ISWLAN" and Connect.
