ORGANIZES

THE FIRST OPEN ACCESS DAY MEET ON OCT. 14, 2008

AT IIITM-K, PARK CENTRE, TECHNOPARK

About the Event: October 14, 2008 has been declared to be the first Open Access Day globally by the SPARC (the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition), Students for Free Culture, and the Public Library of Science (PLOS). The site open access day website provides details on this global event. Increasingly, leading universities and R&D organizations are adopting the Open Access Publishing approach to publish their research and scholarly works. The aim of the Open Access Day is to broaden awareness and understanding of Open Access, including recent mandates and emerging policies, within the international higher education community and the general public. IIITM-K has been carrying out a whole spectrum of developments related to information systems and services related to open publishing. Considerable amount of open content have also been posted by IIITM-K and accessed through its various portals in KISSAN, VUAT, Education Grid, Computational Chemistry Portal, the Institute portals etc. IIITM-K is organizing this meet in its own classroom premises in Park Centre, Technopark. The provisional program details for the day is given below.

FORENOON THEME: Open Systems, Open Architecture and Open Content
