Course Objective

The objective of the training will be to impart fundamental concepts in Software Engineering to the trainees. The training will provide the students with a thorough understanding of the principles, processes and tools required for the successful design and development of software systems.

Venue

The venue for the training will be the classroom/Lab facility available at IIITM-K in the Nila Building of Technopark

Methodology

The training is divided into two phases.

Phase-I

The first phase of one-month duration will be classroom training with lectures, exercises, assignments and case studies. Video lectures of experts available in the Digital Library of IIITM-K will be used for the training. The students will have access to the e-learning platform. The training will include visits by the trainees to the premises of TeN to understand the processes and procedures adopted in the company and how the software engineering concepts have been applied in an organisation. These visits will be coordinated by the concerned persons assigned by TeN. Tests and assignments will be conducted periodically to evaluate the students. This phase will conclude with a final test and feedback session.

Phase-II

In the second phase of two months duration, the trainees will be involved in executing a software development project in close association with the team from TeN. The objective, scope and requirements of the project will be provided by TeN. Guidance will be provided jointly by the team from TeN and IIITM-K. The trainees will use the facility available at IIITM-K for executing the project. The objective of this phase is to impart hands on experience to the trainees in developing a software product.
