Preamble
This course introduces the participant to fundamental concepts in ITS, the tools and technologies used in ITS, and example projects where such systems are used. Particular emphasis is placed on ITS in India.
One presentation of a topic of interest: each student is expected to make a 15-minute lecture on a topic of interest, to be decided on with the instructor.
Course Objectives
- Introduce the fundamental concepts in Intelligent Transportation Systems.
- Explore in detail Image Processing based ITS solutions, which is the cutting edge in road side traffic data collection
- Describe technologies used for traffic law enforcement
- Study in detail ITS technologies that are best suited for developing countries – technologies that help make best use of available infrastructure.
