Education Grid (EduGrid)

The Kerala Education Grid Project is a path-breaking initiative of the Government of Kerala to provide quality education to all thestudents pursuing higher studies in the state. The project vision is to provide quality education to all, independent of geography. The project aims to facilitate multiple independent course-specific collaborative information and knowledge networks across distributed servers over the Internet as well as affordable and pedagogically effective online assisted learning environment for thecolleges in any subject.

The project aims to establish an Educational Grid across approximately 100 colleges, Academic and Research Institutions under the five universities in Kerala, and several other postgraduate and research centres within the state. The execution will be done in phases. The engineering and science colleges and institutions will be covered in the first phase. The services of renowned academicians, subject matter experts and domain experts from the industry will be made available and accessible to teachers and students on various subjects. Currently, Education Grid Resource Centres (EGRC) at NIT-Calicut, College of Engineering-Trivandrum, and IIITM-K are being established. by IIITM-K. The Education Grid Operations Centre (EGOC) will operate from IIITM-K.
