Instructions to the Candidates
  • For each of the qualifications, professional experiences, achievements, etc., documentary proof in the form of self-attested photo-copies is to be uploaded along with application. The applicants are also required to list names of at least two referees, who can testify your work experience, skills, achievements, and personal integrity. Provide their names, current designation, current employer, location, e-mail addresses, and landline or mobile phone numbers.
  • All degrees/certificates should be from recognized University/Institute.
  • The originals must be produced at the time of interview
  • Incomplete applications / applications without necessary attachments may not be accepted.
  • Any misleading wrong information supplied by the candidates may lead to summarily rejection of the application, if found subsequently also, the appointment will be cancelled.
  • The Screening Committee shall short-list the eligible candidates, to be called for interview. However, if the number of applications received is large, it will not be convenient or possible to interview all the candidates. In such a scenario, the Screening Committee may restrict the number of candidates to be called for the interview to a reasonable limit after taking into consideration of qualifications and experience over and above the minimum prescribed in the advertisement
  • Persons employed in Government and Semi-Government organizations must apply through proper channel. ‘No Objection Certificate’ shall be submitted along with the application. Those who are unable to submit No Objection Certificate along with the application will have to submit it on or before the interview.
  • No interim queries regarding interview / selection process will be entertained.
  • Canvassing in any form will lead to rejection of application form.
  • Decision of the Selection Committee and the Board of Governors of IIITM-K with respect to the selection process will be final.
  • Candidates shortlisted by the Screening Committee will have to appear for an interview at their own cost, before a Selection Committee on the time, date and place, communicated to them.
  • Legal disputes, if any with IIITM-K are restricted to the jurisdiction of Thiruvananthapuram Court only.
  • Applications, received after the due date will not be considered.
  • The applicants are required to visit the Institute website regularly for any subsequent corrigendum/addendum etc. which shall be published on the Institute website only.

Pay matrix as per 7th CPC : 57,700 – 1, 82,400 in Academic Level 10. Other benefits include HRA, TA etc applicable to Central Govt staff and EPF.

Age limit : 35 years as on 27.02.2018

Educational and other qualifications required for direct recruits :

A. Essential :

i). Masters’ degree in Library Science / Information Science / Documentation Science or an equivalent professional degree in CGPA of 6.5 in 10 point scale or at least 60% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and a consistently good academic record with sound knowledge in computerized library and Information Systems and Services.

ii). Qualifying in the national level test conducted for the purpose by the UGC or any other agency approved by the UGC.

iii). However, candidates, who are or have been awarded Ph.D degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D Degree) Regulations 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET / SLET / SET for recruitment and appointment Assistant Librarian.

B.  Desirable

PG Diploma in Library Automation and Networking or PGDCA or equivalent.

C. Experience

Min. 5 years experience working in reputed institutions. 

D. Period of probation, if any

One year. 

E. Method of Recruitment and contract period

Direct, For a period of 5 years initially, extendable depending upon the performance.
