The Indian Institute of Information Technology & Management - Kerala (IIITM-K) is established by the Government of Kerala under its Information Technology Department in the year 2000. IIITM-K's Mission is to be an institution of excellence in education, research, development,and training in basic and applied Information Technology and Management and to be a leader in educational networking and services provider for higher education . The institute is driven with vision and direction by a Board of Directors constituted by the Government of Kerala comprising a team of accomplished and eminent persons from academia, IT Industry, Research and Development and Administration. Shri S Gopalakrishnan, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, Infosys, Bangalore is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors. IIITM-K is located amidst the lush Campus of Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram.
The Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology(PGDIT) Programme is a two-year full-time postgraduation programme with four semesters of structured and streamlined syllabus, summer course and an internship of duration six months. The course includes foundation courses in IT, soft skills, personality and leadership development programmes, advanced courses like Software Engineering, Web Technology, Artificial Intelligence and so forth. All the more, the students are trained to align closely with the competencies and skill-set as demanded by the industry. In addition to the extremely qualified core faculty, IIITM-K hires the services of eminent personalities from elite Institutions in India and abroad and also from Industry. The students here enjoy an excellent learning environment, with streamed lectures, highly equipped classroom and laboratories and the digital library accessible on the web round the clock.
The PGDIT programme is the main academic activity of IIITM-K. PGDIT is a demanding and intensive programme. It aims at developing information systems, man power of high quality, to cater the needs of industry, R & D, and educational institutions. An expert committee review the courses and syllabus regularly to tune the programme according to the changing needs of industry and R&D organizations and, therefore, the curriculum is improved frequently.It is a judicious blend of 'technomanagement' courses giving appropriate emphasis on technology and management both. The students of IIITMK represent all walks of life. The students are drawn from diverse cultural, academic and professional backgrounds. IIITMK, in its Eighth year is proud of having a highly successful global alumni network. IIITMk alumni have taken up prominent roles in leading Multi-National Corporations, Public Sector Undertakings and the Private Sectors as well.
