Library

The well maintained institutional Library with the right blend of conventional and digital facets play a significant role in the teaching-learning process at IIITMK. The resources and infrastructure facilities of the activity area created with the objective of putting Information for Action help enhance quality assurance in the academic and research programmes undertaken by the institute. Some of the salient features of the Library System are :

  • Institutional Access Facility to ACM Digital Library, IEEE Xplore & SpringerLink. These constitute the core commercially accessible e-Resources relevant to IIITMK.
  • Access Facility to DOAJ, arXiv.org of Cornell University, ShodhGanga of Inflibnet, Domain specific Discussion Forums, Selective Webinars, Web-scale Knowledge Discovery, etc. These constitute a select list of Open Access and specialized Digital Resources. Customized approach to the specific levels of Academic Learning including Projects, Assignments & Placements, Doctoral Research or R&D or Consultancy Programmes are consciously promoted by Library.
  • A fairly good collection of print versions of Syllabus-oriented Textbooks and Periodicals are maintained.
  • The infrastructure facilities include inhouse Access Station to e-Resources, e-Resource Search Facility uplinked to Campus-Wide WiFi Connectivity and Remote Access from outside the Campus.
  • KOHA, the Integrated Library Management Open Source Software, is used for house-keeping operations and creation of Holdings Databases and DSpace is used for the development of Institutional Repository.
  • Cross-institutional collaborations to use virtual resources by tapping the potential of info managers’ networks and social media have seen a success story in the Library in the dynamics of knowledge delivery.

The transition from physical resources to electronic resources and services with the trend of increasingly sharing digital resources is amply reflected in our institutional Library System. The transition to provide increasing accessibility to academic and research contents in tune with the changing trends of the institutional programmes is fairly well accomplished in our institutional Library System.
